There is evidence that classroom lighting can improve student performance and academic results (Loe et al., 1999; van Bommel & van den Beld, 2004; Barkmann et al., 2012; Sleegers et al., 2012).

Did you know that despite the importance of lighting, research results do not always agree?

Some studies reveal that higher illuminance improves attention (Smolders & de Kort, 2014; Ru el al., 2019) and working memory (Huiberts, et al., 2015; Ru el al., 2019)., Others, however, find no significant differences (Sun et al., 2019).

Some observe that cooler lighting generates more cognitive processing and better concentration (Mills et al., 2007; Viola et al., 2008; Keis et al., 2014) and others conclude that it has no influence on attention (Smolders & Kort, 2017) or memory level (Vandewalle et al., 2007).
